Over subscribed 1.95GW! Germany's Renewable Energy Industry "Welcoming the Spring"

According to data recently released by the Bundesnetzagentur, in the latest round of photovoltaic auctions in Germany, 347 photovoltaic systems were oversubscribed, with a total installed capacity of 2.87GW. And this bidding plan is to purchase 1.95GW of ground mounted and non building photovoltaic systems. This result indicates that the German renewable energy industry is beginning to recover.

Among the submitted bids, 245 were accepted and 25 were excluded due to formatting errors.

Due to the declining interest of renewable energy developers in developing renewable energy projects in Germany, it has had a negative impact on the auction activities of photovoltaic and wind energy projects conducted in Germany last year. In January of this year, the German parliament allowed the Federal Grid Authority of Germany to increase the electricity price ceiling.

Klaus M ü ller, President of the Federal Grid Agency of Germany, said, "Since June 2022, the total installed capacity of photovoltaics in this round of bidding has significantly exceeded the planned bidding capacity for the first time. We have never received so many bids in our bidding. It is important for us to maintain this high level of bidding to promote necessary long-term expansion

Prior to the bidding deadline, the highest electricity cost for this round of bidding increased to 0.0737 euros/kWh (0.082 US dollars/kWh). The bidding price range is between 0.0529 euros/kWh and 0.0730 euros/kWh.

The next round of bidding for photovoltaic systems by the German Federal Grid Authority will take place on July 1, 2023.

Most of the bidding PV systems are located in Bavaria (845MW), followed by Brandenburg (223MW) and Rhineland Pfalz (163MW). The installed capacity of the photovoltaic system planned to be installed on farmland and grassland is 851MW, followed by the installation of a 755MW photovoltaic system on highways or railway hard shoulders.

The bidding for the 202MW building and soundproof wall photovoltaic system conducted in December last year was not fully subscribed, and only reached the average winning bid volume of the two rounds of bidding on April 1, 2022 and August 1, 2022.

Last June, the subscription volume for the planned bidding of 1.126GW photovoltaic projects was insufficient, with only 412MW, which means that up to 37% of the bidding capacity was not found as a buyer.

According to the survey, Germany installed 7.18GW of photovoltaic systems in 2022, an increase of 35.47% compared to the previous year's 5.3GW. As of the end of 2022, Germany has installed a total of 66.5GW of photovoltaic systems.
